The Arab Network for Civic Education (ANHRE), in cooperation with Jordan Network for Education for All (JNEA ) ,and within the framework of the project “Voices for Inclusive Education,” funded by the Global Partnership for Education, organized a specialized training workshop entitled “Evidence-Based Advocacy – Policy Paper Development,” with the participation of a number of network members. The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ capacities to influence evidence-based education policies.
This workshop comes as part of the Network’s commitment to building the capacities of civil society organizations working in education advocacy and equipping them with effective, evidence-based advocacy tools, contributing to the development of education policies that are more responsive to those most in need of protection.
On the first day of the workshop, the trainer Majed Abu Azzam delivered a training presentation covering the concept of policies and strategies, the importance of development policies, and the scope of policy papers, in addition to general considerations when analyzing them.
He also provided an overview of the current state of the education sector in Jordan, the mechanisms for identifying and defining problems and setting priorities, and how to formulate recommendations and build persuasive arguments in policy papers.
The second day of the workshop addressed more advanced themes, most notably identifying policy alternatives, drafting and refining recommendations, and the role of research in supporting education policies, in addition to working in specialized groups and discussing professional considerations when writing policy papers and the logical sequence for preparing them, to ensure clarity, feasibility, and impact.
On the sidelines of the training, a meeting was held with representatives of the Global Partnership for Education, in addition to the President of the Arab Campaign for Education for All, to support the efforts of network participants and to reaffirm the role of civil society organizations in driving change and advocating for more inclusive and equitable education policies.
